Fic: This City Is For Strangers

Dec. 19th, 2011 | 12:16 am
music: The Underdog :: Spoon

Title: This City Is For Strangers
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 2985
Summary: It was five in the morning in London. Somewhere a few hours east the sun was rising, but in London the sky was dark, clouds murky orange with reflected light. It smelled like rain, and it smelled like baking bread.  Magical AU
Notes:  This was written for shaggydog_swap for the artwork Flirt, by mypretty_art.  It's a gorgeous piece of art, and I had so much fun writing for it, and with the fest.  The title, and a bit of secondary inspiration, are from the song 'Grey or Blue,' by Jaymay.

Fic: Irresistible Force

Oct. 14th, 2011 | 04:24 pm
music: Of Montreal :: The Stills

Title: Irresistible Force
Pairing: Remus/Regulus
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1200
Prompt: Regulus has a crush on his Arithmancy tutor, Remus Lupin. How can he get Remus to notice him?
Summary: In which the question 'How can Regulus get Remus to notice him?' is answered by: Threatening to jump off of the Astronomy Tower, obviously.
Author's Notes: I wrote this for the mwpp_mischief rare pairs fest, which just finished and has lots of nice fic, so, if you haven't, I'd recommend checking it out.  I've never actually written either Sirius or Remus with other people, so it was interesting doing this.  Especially as, while I've written Regulus before, I've never been inside of his head.  It's a nice place, as it turns out, so you might expect more Regulus fic from me in the future.

Fic: Clarity (4/7)

Sep. 29th, 2011 | 06:25 pm
music: Knights :: Minus the Bear

Title: Clarity
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 4500
Summary: The two week adventure of the Easter Holiday of sixth year, in which there is a great deal of Revenge and Other Interesting Things.
This Chapter: Quite unexpectedly Sirius reached out and ran his quick, nimble fingers through Remus' hair, smoothing it back from his face. Just as quickly he dropped his hand and shook off, maybe, a cobweb, or perhaps nothing at all.

Fic: Three Drabbles

Sep. 24th, 2011 | 11:19 pm
music: Cold, Kind, and Lemon Eyes :: Margot & the Nuclear So and So's

Three Drabbles
Rating: PG
Word Count: 300
Summary: Somewhere, far away but much too close, life continued, grand and terrible, but it was not too urgent to be ignored.
Author's Notes: Drabbles to clear my creative headspace after all my anxiety about the rs_games.  I forgot how nice it is to write something that doesn't have to go anywhere.

Fic: The River Lethe

Sep. 2nd, 2011 | 02:48 pm
music: Matchbox :: The Kooks

Title: The River Lethe
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 9000
Summary: Victorian AU. Remus runs a time-travelling Inn and Sirius is running from the consequences of his mistakes.
Author's Notes:  I wrote this ages ago for the rs_career_fest and never got around to moving it here.  In between freaking out about all my other fest stuff I thought I might as well.  It's excellent procrastination fodder, in any case.

Fic: Clarity, part 3/7

Sep. 1st, 2011 | 12:46 am
music: Catch Hell Blues :: The White Stripes

Title: Clarity, 3 of 7
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 3800
Summary: The two week adventure of the Easter Holiday of sixth year, in which there is a great deal of Revenge and Other Interesting Things.
This Chapter: There were seven Gryffindors staying in the castle. When Remus got back from posting a letter to his parents all but Sirius were in the common room; they sat silent, staring at him. He looked at Lily, accusingly.
Author's Notes: By now I pretty much hate this thing, I've been staring at it so long.  Sorry about all the delay between this chapter and the last two-- at least it's long?  Next chapter I'll probably post this weekend, and then the rest as fast as I can edit them.  And because I'm ridiculous and can't write anything without literary references, the book quoted is Norton Juster's The Phantom Tollbooth.

Fic: The Savage Garden

Aug. 29th, 2011 | 01:40 pm
music: Grey or Blue :: Jaymay

Title: The Savage Garden
Pairing: Walburga/Orion
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1300
Summary:  The summer house was by a lake, and had two retreating wings framing an eccentric garden. It was a wild, overgrown space, a place to get lost in, if you liked, or you weren't careful. It appealed to Walburga, and when business or weather kept her inside she tended to rooms that overlooked its savage beauty.
Author's Notes: Is it awful that writing this was so less daunting than editing the next chapter of Clarity?  Or, for that matter, getting past the block I seem to have on my RS Games fic?  Yes?  Alright, well, I'm an awful person, then.  Anyway, this is basically these two being assholes to each other.  The quoted piece here is from Blake's How Sweet I Roamed From Field to Field.  Also: LJ is screwing with my spacing and it is annoying.

Fic: A Letter to Sirius

Aug. 12th, 2011 | 08:50 pm

Title: A Letter to Sirius
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~1000
Summary: Remus writes Sirius a letter, and recieves a reply.
Author's Notes:  With everything I've been working on being really long and plot intensive, I thought I'd give myself a little bit of a break.  I just got done with a long move, and I'll start posting Clarity again regularly once I get things organized, but for now I just wanted some instant gratification, if you will.  The French Remus quotes here is actually Baudelaire, not Rilke, though Rilke did write a little in french, and quotes the same bit of Baudelaire in The Noetbooks of Malte Laurids Brigge.

I'm dreaming of September. Is it possible that there's a castle in the mountains? A lake and a forest covered in snow and ice, still and sleeping with the season? Nothing sleeps in summer.Collapse )
